The institute was established in 1961 with the sole aim of spreading enlightenment in an area with poor literacy rate. This Institution is one of the parts of Swat Beauty in the field of Education.

From the past many years, a necessity was being felt for an upto the mark public sector intermediate level science college in area, which can appropriately prepare students for their meritorious admission in professional colleges. So consequent upon the incessant demands from the public and to rectify the missing link of quality found between SSC of Govt. Higher Secondary School Khwaza Khela and 1st year of professional colleges in the country, the Govt. Higher Secondary School Khwaza Khela was upgraded to intermediate science college in 1989 for boys. An intense need was felt of its up gradation to higher secondary level which ultimately was fulfilled in 1989. Since then students have been getting quality education at their doorsteps in both humanities as well as in science faculties.
For this purpose more upto date facilities, sophisticated equipments, trained staff and well furnished labs, which can be a hallmark of any prestigious college, were annexed to the already existing amenities. Now with the blessing of Almighty Allah, Govt. Higher Secondary School Khwaza Khela academic span ranges from 6th class to Secondary and intermediate levels.

The Govt. Higher Secondary School Khwaza Khela is located in Khwaza Khela (Swat), which is easily accessible from all areas of Khwaza Khela, Matta, Fatehpure, Gulibagh etc. Shopping Centers, Banks, Swat River, Local Bus Stands are located within walking distance from the colleges. It is ideally situated on the link road between Madyan and the main Road Khwaza Khela. The transport from all neighboring villages is readily available to the colleges.
